I'm not really a sports person, but I already watch the CBC all day long so I don't see why that would change. I actually do like watching quite a few of the events, particularly anything really fast or crazy like skeleton or downhill skiing. Plus a little nationalism can make a sports fan out of anyone.
An early gold medal for Canada's Jennifer Heil in Freestyle Moguls (which is both fast and crazy now that inverted jumps are allowed) inspired me to buy a team Canada hat which, I must admit is the most expensive hat I have ever purchased at a cool $40. Based on how much I paid for it, I'll be wearing this hat everyday until July. Maybe August.
I think it is a very sexy hat. I'd do it. I'm glad Team Canada dumped Roots this year; the uniform they put together for the American team looks like the same uninspired crap they had both the American and Canadian teams wearing last time. In particular, that "poorboy" hat is basically the same hat Team Canada wore in 1998. Roots might want to look at keeping up with the times.
The uniquely Canadian (well, until recently) Hudson's Bay Company has made a far superior uniform in my eyes; although for some reason, they don't seem to be selling most of what the Canadian team was wearing at the Opening Ceremonies, other than the hats. Most of it is pretty plain, but I really like the outerwear, and this being winter, that is pretty much all you can see anyways. Had I any money, or a job, I'd probably start saving for one of the coats the Canadian team was wearing at the opening ceremonies in the hopes they are also sold to the public; for now though the hat will have to suffice.
I wouldn't dare keep this to myself, so I took some pics of the hat, and I'm in there too, and so is Lou Reed.
Everyone has high hopes for the Canadian Team this year. Salt Lake City was Canada's best ever performance at the Olympics, and with the increased focus on training and the addition of more sports psychologists the Canadian Olympic Committee expects to beat that record in Torino. Personally, I'm on the edge of my seat. A good performance might mean even greater things at Vancouver 2010. I'll probably buy that hat too.
Keep on Tranglin,
Anthony

I love the hat. Your face, however, is another story altogether.
i think i see a smile cracking through on the right side. the love of the hat is filling you with "feelings". scary.
Melissa, now that is has happened I can varify that we have both gotten drunk and danced. I think if I had an ass I would have danced it right off.
Haha Nick, I live in a country with good hats and you don't. also, you smell.
nads, you always see a smile cracking somewhere. I love the hat and there is nothing you can do about it.
Dear Anthony,
Thank you for not deleting my blog from your list, whether that be through laziness or puppy dog like devotion. I know which one it was, but I choose not to mention it.
You have inspired me to blog about the greatest EVAH Aussie winter olympian.
Yours faithfully,
Loz
P.S. - my blog is back
Dear Melissa,
Thank you for all the fun drunk comments. Last night was fun.
Sincerely,
Anthony
Dear Loz,
So glad you're back.
Sincerely,
Anthony
I care less about the Loud Reed ... I was more impressed by the Greetings from Asbury Park. I use to own that - in vinyl.
And as I mentioned in my Ubermilf comment, I have my own hot hat.
"Loud" Reed ... now that's funny. Wish I meant to do that. As it is, I simply can't type to save my ass.
That's some bad hat Harry.
It would be sexier if you tied the strings beneath your chin.
I've always found it strange that you have a label called Roots. Aussies who visit Canada usually come back with some Roots mementos... because... ya know... it says roots!! And that's funny.
To 'root' is to become very intimate with someone's carnal treasure. See? Funny!
Dear Bill, Bill, Brooke, Ubes and Loz,
What part of "comments should be written as formal letters" didn't you understand?
Yours,
Nick Seaman
Dear Melissa,
I can assure you, I don't smell. I do, however, live in Kansas. Our hats suck.
All the best,
Nick Seaman
Dear Anthony,
Fuck you.
Sincerely,
Nick Seaman
Dear Sidenote,
I am going to order a hat for myself then we'll see what's what.
Many Thanks,
Nick Seaman
Dear Anthony,
How has Canada been doing? the Aussie coverage of the olympics pretty much bites it.
Sincerely
Knit..
Dear Loz,
All the Canadians came with as much Roots gear as possible, except me... sob.

Dear LMK,
Our good first day didn't materlize into any momentum. Several of our top hopes fizzled out in days two and three. Today Jeremy Wotherspoon sucked it up at the mens 500m longtrack and none of the women in the halfpipe even qualified for the final. Worst, our great hope in Alpine skiing crashed and had to be taken off the mountain with a torn ACL. I'm still confident, there are 13 days left. I know we'll do well, and I'm proud of the athletes no matter what. When people complain I try to put things in perspective, Canada has a small populaton, we don't spend on training like the Chinese or Americans and we aren't sports mad like the Norwegians at the winter games or the Australians at the summer games.
Newsfully yours,
Anthony
