Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish

I've been working at Rogers Video for a bit over a month now, and I'm loving it. However, the title to this blog refers to my other employer, Wal-Mart. The original plan was to keep both jobs by being available in the morning at Wal-Mart and in the evening at Rogers Video. My manager at Rogers, Pedro, was good with that, so I requested to change my availability at Wal-Mart. So I waited, and I waited, and two weeks later, my request was denied. So I spoke to my manager at Wal-Mart, Brad and he said that I couldn't be available only for days at Wal-Mart, so I asked him what would be an acceptable compromise and he said there was no compromise and that I would have to be available to close most nights of the week. Seeing as how my ability to close at Rogers is a huge reason for me working there, Brad's offer just wasn't acceptable to me. So I attempted to transfer to Wal-Mart's Garden Centre because it is just hiring now. So I filled out the form and waited and waited and eventually went to the Garden Centre's manager, Erin, and asked her about and she said that I would have to be available all day, every day. Basically my jaw dropped, then I went about my business.

I couldn't believe that a workplace that was only willing to give me 2 six hour shifts a week would require me to be available all day, every day. So I've decided to quit. Fortunately I am getting about 30 hours a week at Rogers so I should be ok for money, it would have been a lot better if I was able to keep both though. I am happy to not have to go to Wal-Mart ever again, it was getting to the point that I was becoming physically ill at the thought of having to go in. So I guess it's for the best.

Keep on trangling,
Anthony Pereira
