Those of you in the know are probably hip to the collage/wallpaper thing going on along the longest wall in my bedroom. About a year ago I started buying second hand rock records for a little project. Now an entire wall is covered in album covers ranging from the honestly cool- Lou Reed, the Beatles- to the ironically cool- the B-52's, Pat Benetar. I didn't stop buying though and every week or so I come home with a new precious find.

I haven't been able to listen to any of them though. I haven't had access to a turntable since our old one broke in 1990, that is until now. I went nuts with the student budget (ie. how am I getting to class in November?) and decided to order a portable turntable. I figured a portable one would be cheaper, easier to use and more convenient and since I don't have a lot of money and I don't particularly care about top of the line sound quality (not that I have any well cared for records anyways) the
Numark PT-01 was a pretty good choice for the money, if you ask me.
No super fancy bells and whistles really, but it hooks up to my existing mini-stereo and the sound quality is pretty good for portable analog technology, and this
Montreal company got it to me in three days from when I ordered it, a feat of heroism by Canadian postal standards. I did forget, however, how much of a bastard skipping tracks is with analog recordings, but at least I'm not dealing with cassette tapes.
Keep on Tranglin,
Anthony

If anyone could take a step backwards form Cassette Tapes it's you my friend.
I am actually pretty surprised it got there that fast, we were just talking about it a couple days ago. I once ordered something from Canada and it took three weeks to get here. I live in Kansas not fucking Europa.
I am drooling i jealousy. DROOLING. I have significant over-romanticized vinyl my entire life... originating with my dad's Beatles collection.
And the rock record wallpaper. Wins hands-down over my wall at home - flyers from shows. You win the prize. It's the pumpkin that is still in my room. That is the prize.
you officially have gained lifelong membership to the mod club.
not that you weren't ridiculously hip to begin with.
Time for writing. You know the drill.

records kick ass. We got my mum a record player that had a cd player, tape player and radio all in it.
Every few months my brother gets the urge and his friends come over and listen to my parents massive collection... good times
Once you get that copy of the soundtrack for Batman (by Prince) and your digital converter burn me a copy of it. Prince gets me hot.
take a penny or two and attach it to the head behind the little positioning arm with a rubber band. fixes the 'virtually unskippable' skipability.
