In Response:

Aaron left this comment a couple posts back:

if you're still registered in Cambridge, that vote could be pretty important earlier or later.

you might not wanna get sick for that half decade unless you have some good health insurance though...

My response:

I am indeed registered in Cambridge, and I will mark an X for Janko Peric of the Liberal Party on Monday. I'd like to think that he has a chance, but I'm fairly certain Gary Goodyear of the Conservatives is going to take it again, and by a much larger margin this time. I voted for the NDP the last time around, and although that is the party I agree with most, I regret not having voted strategically to block the Conservatives. I felt stupid having voted for a third party when the Conservatives were able to slip to victory by something like 150 votes.

As far as the second comment goes, I think I'm probably going to live under a rock until 2011 if the Conservatives win any more than 154 Seats on Monday. If I get pissed off enough, I'll probably leave the country.

Keep on Tranglin,
Anthony

yea...nick, register in the Cambridge riding, I almost thought about it. Telegdi runs away with the Liberal vote around here (Waterloo-North). Even though I personally agree with Anthony's NDP disposition, I think the key is blocking the Cons.

A Liberal minority (e.g. where Canadian federal politics were at up until 2 months ago) was going to do no damage...its not like they controlled the senate and congress...and now the supreme court like 'down there' and i don't mean in your pants.

The only semi-comforting thought is that our military is so miniscule that we shouldn't have to worry about committing to a major conflict...SHOULDN'T

Nick there are actually some closer races in the country than Cambridge, but in order to vote:

First, you have to move to Canada legally. So you're going to need to apply for residence, which means you're probably going to need to get a job in Canada.

Second, you have to apply for citizenship. You already speak english, so all you'll need to do is learn a little about Canadian history, geography and civics and the national anthem and other assorted stuff.

Third, you have to pass the citizenship test, and take part in a ceremony thing with a judge of some sort.

Fourth, you have to register to vote with the Electoral Officer in the riding you live in.

Fifth, you have to go to your assigned polling station on January 23, during the 12 hours that it is open (In Ontario 9:30 am to 9:30 pm), present your identification to the staff for verification, take the ballot you are given and mark an X inside the designated space beside the name of the candidate which you intend to vote for and place that ballot inside the ballot box.

Sixth, you want to build a time machine (don't forget the flux capacitor) so you can go into the past like 4 or 5 years so you have enough time to do this all.

Or you know, you could just pretend to be a recently deceased person.

yea, its clearly a bit late for our legislature to be properly Sac'd...but I dunno about the closeness...I rememeber watching the tallys being pretty close between Peric and the Conservative guy last time around.

man this just makes me feel worse for not voting...but Telegdi should run away again.

How long you thinking before K-W/Cambridge is just 4 'Grand River' Ridings like our defunct bus service?

You probably should vote if you can. I think the Kitchener Liberals might be in trouble, Paul Martin stopped there yesterday and Stephen Harper did today.
